On Friday, July 9th, 2010, that little girl’s dream came true! And although she looked every bit the princess and Dagen appears to be her Prince Charming, this is not a fairytale, this romance is the real thing.

The story of their courtship is sweet and pure and wonderfully refreshing. Avery once stuck a bobby pin in Dagen’s Bible and for years, whenever he saw a bobby pin, he would pick it up and ask God to give him Avery to be his wife.  After he proposed, he gave Avery a box containing all those bobby pins representing hundreds of prayers for her.

The ceremony included a communion service in which Dagen and Avery served the bread and wine to their bridal party.

The proposal took place in a boat out on a lake, so the couple had people sign oars at the wedding instead of a guest book.

The rainy summer night was the perfect backdrop for a reception at Winfrey Point in Dallas, Texas. The little cottage with the darling stone fireplaces gave a relaxed feel to the room, which was exactly what Avery and Dagen wanted.

I love that they took a moment to look at the bridal portraits that Dagen had not yet seen.

The bridal portraits were done by Waco photographer, Kathryn Krueger.

Each centerpiece was a unique collection of retro linens, vases, moss, wood and candles that were lovingly created by the mother of the bride’s friends.

The woodsy touch of using the tree stump for the cake stand was a nice addition to the cake table.

With the help of designer Michael Perkins, Avery and her mother created a cozy, vintage, Anthropology-inspired reception. The garden Gate served as a backdrop for Avery’s portrait and a clever disguise for a wall that was less than desirable.

The hall leading to the buffet was filled with frames containing letters, mementos and notes that give you a sneak peek into the romance of this sweet couple. It also provided the guests with something fun to do while they waited to get their food.

The atmosphere was fun and lively just like this precious couple.
